Dewan Ibtesham

Dewan Ibtesham received his PhD in Computer Science at the UNM School of Engineering Spring 2017 convocation. He is now a software development engineer at Amazon in Seattle.

Dewan received his bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology in 2007 and his master's degree in Computer Science from UNM in 2013. His research interests are generally in high performance computing, large scale distributed systems and fault tolerance for such systems. He is a member of Scalable Systems Lab at UNM and collaborates with researchers from the Resiliency for Exascale Platform Research group from Sandia National Laboratories.

His research focused on increasing HPC application runtime efficiency by applying compression techniques to reduce data movement. Dewan's work, joint with his Advisor Professor Dorian Arnold and co-advisor Kurt Ferreira, PhD, was published in Resilience workshop in 2011,12, ICPP 2012 conference, SC-12 conference(poster), FTXS 2014 workshop and was approved for publication at the International Journal of High Performance Computing.
